This tidbit is for you.
A few months ago while I was on the Queen streetcar, I found myself sharing a pole with Buck 65. He was with a young lady and they appeared to be having a spat about their mode of transportation. If I remember correctly, Mr. 65 had wanted to take a cab. His lady friend had naysayed him, and opted for the streetcar. Mr. 65 was unimpressed.

I tried to look like I wasn't ogling them, like the lame fan I am. (He's so handsome! And mysterious! And scruffy!) Which was especially hard to do when my iPod switched to a Buck 65 song.
Anyhow, SB and I had had previous discussions, as many people do, on what musicians are like in real life in comparison to their onstage personas. My brief streetcar encounter with Mr. 65 had disappointed me, you see. I thought he would be a proponent for public transportation. You know, the raw and gritty transport of the people. It made me a little sad. Although everyone has off days and perhaps this was just one of his.
So, I met a fellow the other day who has had the opportunity to work with many Canadian musicians. He was a pretty cool dude. And he knew Buck 65. So in an email I asked:
"Tell me, what is Buck 65 like in real life?"
His response?
"Shy / aloof / polite / quiet / knowledgeable / nice all round fella. He just got married to a real kook, but also a real sweetheart...the wedding was at the legion...fun."
Which made me feel better and I just thought you, and SB, should know.
Love,
Liza
